I had my appointment yesterday with the ear, nose and throat Doctor. She took one look at my swollen face, runny nose and watery eyes and jammed a thing up my nose. She told me I have one nasty sinus infection and she didn’t want it ruining all the ear work she had done. I stumbled out of the office with a handful of decongestants and an antibiotic. She told me my Tylenol cold medicine wasn’t going to touch it so I needed to take the decongestant yesterday and if I didn’t feel better by today to start the antibiotic.
When this ear thing is all over, I am going to miss my doctor. She is cute and I think I developed a little crush on her. Anyway…
Since desparate times call for desparate measures, I swallowed the pill in the car with no water. By the time, I pulled onto the highway, I could tell it was working. By the time I got to work, I felt looped!
To make a long story short, I left work and spent the afternoon sleeping. I had soup and toast around 8:00 p.m. then back to bed till 5:00 a.m. I think I feel better but I took the antibiotic anyway. Better safe than sorry!
I had a nice chat with B. last night and then her sister. They are all headed for a “girl’s weekend” somewhere. They are such nice people. B. was complaining she hadn’t seen me in 6 weeks and her sister was complaining I hadn’t called her in a while. I hope to get up north in the next couple of weeks.

I was reading Suz this morning and her post on losing her mind struck a chord with me. After having my ear surgery, I jumped back into work with both feet and ended up having a setback last Thursday morning. Headache and shooting ear pain. Once I felt better I went into work. However, it was 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon so I wouldn’t describe myself as prompt.
Work has been good about giving me some slack. Fortunately, I look like I don’t feel good so that helps.
Anyway, I started getting this cough Wednesday. I assumed it was something tied in with my ear and the remaining packing. Wrong! Within 24 hours, I came down with the worst cold I can ever remember. My eyes are tearing, nose running, sneezing and throbbing headache. My nose is bright red from using tissues, paper towels, napkins, etc. to try to stop this running nose. It just won’t stop! I took some Dayquil this morning and I am hoping for the best.
This all got me thinking about slowing things down. I was feeling guilty that I had neglected my various volunteer positions but they will just have to understand. I am doing much better at saying “no”.
I am also feeling better about distancing myself from my bdad’s ex-wife and children. I don’t want to be dragged into their family problems and who did what to whom way back when. I apologize to them but it is just too much for me.
It is funny but my adoptee daydreaming has stopped. I just can’t fathom growing up with B. and/or R. as my parents. It is overwhelming. Would I be welding for a living in a shipyard? Would I still like cooking and reading? If I didn’t know any better, would I even care? B. laughs and says I probably would have run away! She thinks I would have been on the first train to the city and she is probably right!

I came home last night to a nice Easter card from B.
“Enjoy your Easter and I do cherish my springtime (April) blessings in you.”
It is hard to believe that we reunited two years ago this April. It seems like such a short time on one hand and forever on the other…
Although it is still cold and raw in New England, there are signs spring is coming. The big azalea bush is covered with buds and there is new growth popping up all over in the yard. I will need to rake the pine needles off the lawn soon and get a burning permit so I can start getting rid of all the debris.
I am thinking of doing a leg of lamb for Easter dinner. I know that not everyone is a big lamb fan but I like it. I actually bought some mint jelly last week just in case. Several years back, I made lamb at the last minute and the stores were sold out of mint jelly. There was a line of people pulling jelly off the shelves hoping to find a stray jar. I actually found a mint sauce in the international section that was excellent.
Easter is an interesting holiday for me. I am not particularly religious but I love throwing The Messiah on the CD player and making dinner. It reminds me of being a kid although I don’t think The Messiah was part of our tradition. Maybe I heard parts of it in church? I never really was excited by the Easter bunny, dyed eggs or the candy.
How interesting that my childhood holiday memories are mostly about music and food.
